Make Your Own Bestie Bag

🎄 Looking for the perfect pre-Christmas activity? Come join us this November and sew your very own Bestie Bag, the Blackbird Fabrics pattern that everyone’s talking about!

Bring a friend (it is the Bestie Bag, after all) or fly solo and spend a cosy, creative day making a bag you’ll be proud to show off. With the festive season just around the corner, you’ll leave with a gorgeous handmade bag, perfect to gift, or to keep as your new everyday sidekick. 👜✨

Why we love the Bestie Bag:

  • Customisable: Four views to match your style and needs.
  • Everyday-friendly: Views A & B give you a medium-sized bag with a sleek flat or pleated front.
  • Adventure-ready: Views C & D give you extra room for all of life’s essentials.
  • Practical perks: Adjustable webbing or fabric straps, zip closure, shoulder or cross-body wear, truly a bag you’ll reach for again and again!

It’s a fun, festive workshop, a chance to tick some handmade gifts off your list, sew alongside friends (or meet new ones!), and make a bag that looks straight from the shop but has that special handmade magic.

Claire Heath

Sewing has always been a huge part of Claire's life. As a child she was always making, crafting and fixing things. Her love of fabric and making drove her to study Textiles and Fashion Design at Leeds University. After graduating and gaining some invaluable experience in the fashion and textiles industry Claire realised her true passion was sharing her skills and knowledge of garment construction with others.

Claire has been teaching design as a qualified lecturer for well over a decade. She joined the g&g team shortly after the shop opened in 2013 as a workshop tutor. During her time with us she has taught countless workshops and has loved helping customers learn how to sew and create wearable garments that will become staples of their me-made wardrobe.
