Choose from two timeless styles designed for simplicity and ease of construction. Whether you opt for loose-fitting trousers or chic shorts, this class is ideal for advanced beginners.
The Megan Nielsen Flint Trousers - Wide leg cropped pants or shorts with unique crossover closure at the side seam. Pattern sits on the natural waist and features hidden closure at the left pocket , release tucks at the front, darts at the back, slash pockets, two waistband options and two lengths. Version 1 is a pair of above ankle cropped pants with button closures. Version 2 is a pair of above ankle cropped pants with tie closure. Version 3 is a pair of shorts with button closures. Version 4 is a pair of shorts with tie closures.
The True Bias Emerson Trousers - The Emerson pattern is a pull-on crop pant or short with an elasticated back and flattering front waistband. Views A and B have a mid rise that sits just below the natural waist. Views C and D have a high rise that sits over the belly button. All views have front pleats and side pockets. Views A and C are a cropped, wide leg pant, hitting a couple of inches above the ankle. Views B and D are a short with an approximate 4 inch inseam.

- Your very own copy of your chosen sewing pattern (Emersons: US sizes 0-18, waist 26"-38", hips 34"-46". Flints: Sizes 0-20, waist 24"-38", hips 34"-48") If you fall out of the size range of the pattern included, please let us know in advance and we can arrange an alternative for you
- Use of all machines, tools and equipment
- Tea/coffee and biscuits (please bring a packed lunch of visit one of the lovely local cafes)
Please get in touch and we can advise on what you'll need to bring, depending on your pattern of choice and which version you would like to make. This will include fabric, matching thread, interfacing and any related notions such as elastic, buttons etc
It is strongly advised to purchase your fabric before the workshop so that it can be pre washed, especially if you plan on using a linen based fabric.
Claire Heath
Sewing has always been a huge part of Claire's life. As a child she was always making, crafting and fixing things. Her love of fabric and making drove her to study Textiles and Fashion Design at Leeds University. After graduating and gaining some invaluable experience in the fashion and textiles industry Claire realised her true passion was sharing her skills and knowledge of garment construction with others.
Claire has been teaching design as a qualified lecturer for well over a decade. She joined the g&g team shortly after the shop opened in 2013 as a workshop tutor. During her time with us she has taught countless workshops and has loved helping customers learn how to sew and create wearable garments that will become staples of their me-made wardrobe.
