What Makes This Weekend Special?
Personalised Attention: With a smaller group size, Lisa will have more time to help with tricky spots, offer tailored advice, and share her expertise.
Relaxed Setup: Enjoy a calm, comfortable environment with plenty of space to spread out and focus on your sewing.
Course Plan
Day 1: Cut out your fabric and mark the notches.
Days 2 & 3: Construct your blazer, step by step.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a beautifully tailored blazer and new skills to take on future sewing projects with confidence!
Pre-Course Preparation
To make the most of your time in the workshop, a little preparation is needed beforehand
Pattern & Consultation: You’ll receive The Blazer pattern ahead of the workshop, along with a pre-workshop Zoom consultation with Lisa. During the call, you’ll discuss the pattern, explore fabric options, and address any initial questions. Lisa will guide you through everything you need to prepare, ensuring you’re fully ready for this sewing adventure.
Optional Toile: For the best fit, you may want to make a toile before the workshop. If needed, you can borrow one of Lisa’s toiles (for a small postage fee). You’ll only need to make the front, back, and, if necessary, one sleeve to check sizing and make adjustments ahead of time.
Cutting the Paper Pattern: To maximise sewing time, we’ll ask you to cut out your paper pattern pieces beforehand. The fabric cutting will be done at the workshop.

An avid maker herself, The Avid Seamstress was created from a deep love of Lisa's sewing and the absolute joy that comes from making amazing garments.
When creating The Avid Seamstress, one of Lisa's biggest priorities was to create sewing patterns with straightforward and easy to understand instructions. Lisa wanted to avoid those head-scratching moments and feelings of disappointment when something doesn’t quite make sense. Because of this, The Avid Seamstress sewing patterns are always tested by a team of pattern testers to ensure that their instructions are clear and the pattern is ready for release.
