Sewing classes - All levels

The G&G Stitch Academy - Home Education Group

Do you have a crafty child who loves to use their imagination and make things? Well this half-termly Home Education G&G stitch academy is the perfect place for them to get creative and learn how to use a range of textile materials and tools (including the sewing machine), to make fun and exciting craft and accessories projects.

In this weekly children's sewing class, students will learn how to:

Thread a sewing machine.
Change the settings to sew a straight and a zigzag stitch
Work on a range of projects that they will be proud to show off!

Sewing projects will develop and change so students can join us with no experience. If they have already attended the G&G Stitch Academy before there will be plenty of new projects to inspire them! From patchwork cushion covers to mini bunting to decorate their bedroom, to pencil cases and pyjama shorties, there will be no stopping them one they have learnt the basics.

Please note: This is a daytime class that is for children that are Home Educated. If you are looking for an after school class please see here.

        Alison Ivens

Alison has always been crafty and over the years has tried her hand at all sorts, including jewellery making, felting and paper crafts, but over the last few years she has found her passion in sewing and crochet.

After finishing a Fine Art Printmaking degree and Masters in Gallery Studies Alison spent 18 years working as Museum Manager and Curator in a small Lichfield museum, and while this was an important part of her past, she is now enjoying the opportunity to talk dressmaking with our lovely customers.

When she's not at the shop Alison is a mum to two children who, along with her husband, benefit from her dressmaking. Her wardrobe is very eclectic and her favourite pattern is animal print, which she considers a neutral!
