Saturday 21st November 2026 1:00-2:30pm
Fancy learning sashiko with Luke-Matthew Iveson, winner of Series 10 of The Great British Sewing Bee? 🧵✨
Following our morning book signing with Luke, we're delighted to be welcoming Luke back to the g&g studio for a special 90-minute sashiko workshop.
Sashiko was the starting point for Luke's new book, Around the World in 80 Sews. Fascinated by the discipline, repetition and meditative nature of the technique, Luke's curiosity led them on a journey exploring sewing and textile traditions from around the world.
Now you have the chance to learn from Luke firsthand in a small, friendly workshop setting.
Students will learn the sashiko technique Hitomezashi and create their own sashiko block/patch. This can be used to repair a hole in a garment or as a decorative patch.
Whether you're completely new to sashiko or have already discovered a love for this beautiful technique, this is a wonderful opportunity to spend 90 minutes sewing, learning and being inspired by Luke. 💛
Places are limited to just 12 students, so don't miss out!

🪡 What to expect
During this 90-minute session, Luke will introduce you to the beautiful art of sashiko, sharing their knowledge, tips and techniques as you work on your own project.
With a maximum of just 12 students, there will be plenty of opportunity to learn, ask questions and enjoy some one-to-one guidance from Luke.
All workshop materials are included, so you can simply turn up, get settled and start sewing!
🪡 Slow stitching, no rushing!
Sashiko is all about taking your time and enjoying the rhythm of the stitching, so you may not finish your project during the session - and that's absolutely fine!
You'll take home all the materials you need to continue your stitching and complete your project at home. 🧵✨
Please note: the workshop ticket does not include a copy of Luke's book.
Copies of Around the World in 80 Sews will be available to purchase separately, and you can also book our morning Luke-Matthew Iveson book signing event, which includes a copy of the book personally signed by Luke.
For all dressmakers/levels
