We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Luke-Matthew Iveson, winner of Series 10 of The Great British Sewing Bee, to the g&g studio to celebrate the launch of their brand-new book, Around the World in 80 Sews.
Luke (@sewlukeivo) is a maker, designer and teacher with a passion for sewing, textiles, creativity and learning new things. Their new book takes readers on a fascinating journey around the world, exploring 80 sewing and textile techniques shaped by different cultures, communities, materials and places.
From Japanese sashiko and Ghanaian Kente weaving to British Dorset buttons and techniques developed for extreme Antarctic conditions, Around the World in 80 Sews is part reference book, part project book and part global sewing adventure. The book brings together eighty sewing and textile techniques from around the globe, along with short projects to try at home.
